“Reporters without borders” reports on a sad record. An unprecedented number of journalists around the world has been detained – currently, there is knowledge of 201 cases in 36 countries. The protests in Iran are reported to be a major cause of the tightening situation. Arrests also occurred in Cambodia, Vietnam and Yemen. 10 years ago, less than 100 journalists were detained. Since 2001 the number has been constantly on the rise.
