As unexpectedly as they appeared, as suddenly they were gone. With posters and t-shirts, exiled Iranians at the Frankfurt Book Fair staged a “flashmob” for freedom in Iran on Saturday.

As a so-called “flashmob” – a suddenly assembling crowd – several dozens of protesters silently passed a row of exhibition booths of Iranian publishers and institutes. Most of them were wearing green clothes, like the supporters of opposition supporter [sic, they must mean “leader”] Mir Hossein Moussavi. As stated by the [German] Association “United4Iran”, the protest was held in an attempt to draw attention to the current human rights violations in Iran. The event was organized by “United4Iran” and “Freiheit für Iran” (“Freedom for Iran”).

Official representatives of Iranian publishers called the protesters “Zionists” and “traitors”. Only a few weeks ago, opponents of the regime in Iran were sentenced to death; they had protested against the controversial re-election of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in June.
